A nation needs a constitution. Its demand started with the freedom struggle itself. For the first time in 1895, Bal Gangadhar Tilak raised the demand for the meeting of the Constituent Assembly. In the year 1938, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru had decided to constitute the Constituent Assembly.
A few days after getting independence, on 29 August 1947, the Constituent Assembly constituted a drafting committee under the leadership of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to draft the constitution. After which the constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949. While the Constituent Assembly was implemented on 26 January 1950.

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru
On 13 December 1946, Jawaharlal Nehru presented the objective resolution before the Constituent Assembly. It is believed that he provided the vision for the constitution. He assured justice, equality and freedom to the citizens in the constitution. Nehru was the chairman of the Constituent Assembly Committee, the Federal Powers Committee and the Federal Constitution Committee.
Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel
Sardar Patel was the chairman of the advisory committee on fundamental rights, minority rights. His biggest contribution was to bring the entire country under one national flag. He actively participated in Satyagraha.
Acharya J B Kriplani
JB Kriplani served as the General Secretary of the Congress from 1934 to 1945. Also, he played an important role in the making of the Indian Constitution. He was the chairman of the sub-committee on fundamental rights in the Constituent Assembly.
Sarojini Naidu
Her contribution to the rights of women is very important. She was a member of the Constituent Assembly. She played an important role in the suffrage of women in the country. He strongly advocated the rights of women in the constitution.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar
Dr. Ambedkar was the chairman of the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly. Whose responsibility was to prepare the written draft of the constitution. There were a total of 7 people in this committee. He is also known as a legal scholar and social reformer. He strongly opposed untouchability.
Sarat Chandra Bose
He was the elder brother of Subhash Chandra Bose. He was also a member of the Constituent Assembly. He took part in the Quit India Movement.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad
Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the president of the assembly that wrote the Indian constitution. Rajendra Prasad played a major role in the making of the Constitution of India. Was the President of the country twice. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna.
Govind Vallabh Pant
Was a member of the Constituent Assembly. His major contribution is considered in connecting the states on linguistic basis. He became the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
C Gopalachari
His presence in the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly has been considered very active. He was the first Governor General of India. He was a philosopher and writer.
The members of the Constituent Assembly were elected by the elected members of the Assemblies of the states of India, in which Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad were also prominent members.
