However, let us know what is a no-confidence motion, what is its process and how it plays a big role in toppling the government…
No-confidence motion and its role
A no-confidence motion can be brought against the current government in any country with a democratic system or in any state. The opposition wants to prove through this that the current government does not have a majority and the government has come to a minority position. In this situation, the ruling party tries to topple or reject the no-confidence motion to remain in the government, that is, to save its government.
At present, if it is understood at the state level, then a no-confidence motion is given by the opposition to the speaker of the assembly. If the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition is accepted, then the ruling party has to give a floor test. That is, they have to prove their majority in the house. For this, they have to prove the magic figure i.e. equal to or more than the number of MLAs in their favor.
If the ruling party is not successful in proving majority in the house, then the government falls. As in the case of any bill i.e. Bill.
