Now let’s understand the issue completely. All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF) says that top FMCG brands have reduced the supply of their products to e-commerce companies.
The blame for this has first fallen on Jio Mart. Because the business method of Jio Mart was not right. Retail traders were getting hurt due to this. FMCG companies have had to take this step when the trade association united the retailers in Maharashtra.
Many companies reduced the supply to Jio Mart
Retailers were already against huge discounts from B2B companies like Udaan, Jio Mart, Best Price. Now Nestle, Marico, HUL, Dabur and many top FMCG brands have reduced the supply to Jio Mart. FMCG companies are giving preference to offline distributors as compared to e-commerce companies like Geomart, Udaan, Intax. Because offline distributors contribute 85 percent of the sales.
Now just let us know how Jio Mart first came under the target of FMCG companies. Actually, Jio Mart was giving a discount of at least 10-15 percent even from the fixed margin. Whereas, the fixed margin is around 5 per cent. Taking action on this complaint, FMCG company Marico completely stopped the billing of Jio Mart.
Apart from this, let us tell you that the arbitrariness of companies related to e-commerce business in the country is going to be curbed soon. In order to protect the interests of customers, the government has intensified the exercise of bringing a national e-commerce policy. Under the new policy, retailers will have to adopt fair business practices while giving discounts, cashback and rewards to their customers. E-commerce companies will not be able to discriminate against sellers. Actually, through the new rules, the intention of the government is to control the e-commerce sector of the country. Several steps have been taken in this direction.
