Amazon India Layoff: The number of employees losing jobs is increasing continuously in tech companies forced to lay off their employees worldwide. E-commerce company Amazon is now going to cut its workforce by 1 percent in India as well. That is, the job loss will fall on about 1,000 people. But there is a relief news of giving extra salary to all these employees of the company.
Quoting sources, TOI has reported that the employees who will lose their jobs will be given two months’ salary as per the contract. At the same time, the company can also offer them extra salary of up to 2 months on top of this. That is, such employees will get a total salary of up to 5 months at the time of full and final.
Extra salary will be given according to time
Sources say that the employees 2 months extra salary will be counted according to their time spent in the company. Last week, Amazon had announced a reduction of 1,000 people in its workforce in India. The company provides employment to about 1 lakh people in India.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassi recently said that in January this year, Amazon will lay off 18,000 people worldwide. Regarding layoffs in India, Amazon says that people being fired in this way does not depend on their performance. Rather, it is a business decision, which will make the company’s business in the country more smooth.

In the midst of this development, the Labor Commissioner in Pune has sent a notice to Amazon. This notice has been given to the company to implement the Voluntary Separation Policy. The Labor Department has summoned Amazon on January 17.
Amazon had announced this separation policy in November. However, there are continuous protests and complaints from the employees of the company regarding this policy.
