Alexander Wang, 25, of Asian origin is in the news. Recently, Forbes Magazine has declared America’s Alexander Wang as the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. Alexander has achieved a special place in the age in which youth take steps towards fulfilling their dreams by finding a job. In his desire to get a free ticket to Disney World, his life changed in such a way that he became a billionaire and made history.
Alexander had a special love for mathematics since childhood. Therefore, from the sixth grade, he started participating in the National Maths and Coding Competition. They used to participate so that they could get free tickets to Disney World. Even though Alexander could not win the competition, but the knowledge of mathematics and coding definitely changed his life. At the age of 17, he started coding for the website Quora.
During coding, he became friends with a young man named Lucy Guo. Meanwhile, he enrolled in the well-known US Institute of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to take the education of machine learning. Leaving studies midway at the age of 19, he started the software company Scale AI with friend Lucy Guo in the summer holidays.
Leaving MIT Institute to start his own company was not easy. The parents did not want Wang to leave studies midway, but they persuaded the parents. Wang says, I told the parents, I am doing this only till the summer vacation. After college starts, I will go back to study. But as soon as this step was taken, Wang’s company got funding on a large scale and he could not return to college.
Wang’s firm does data analysis work for more than 300 companies. These include companies like American Air Force, Army, General Motors. His company Scale AI analyzes satellite images. Wang’s physicist parents also worked at the US National Lab on a project to make weapons for the military.
