Suddenly, Mulayam Singh Yadav, wearing a white dhoti and sparkling kurta, came home earlier. His image was worth seeing. He also met all of us children. That is a memory when he gave us a rose flower and said that go ahead and progress.
Mulayam Singh Yadav is not with us today. Every small or big memory of him is running in our mind.
It was winter. Everyone was sunbathing on the terrace. Suddenly the police siren sounds and people look down from their roofs. Suddenly seeing so much police force in the quiet area, people wondered what happened that turned the whole locality into a cantonment. We will be some 13-14 years old. If I was from UP, I was interested in politics and also had knowledge. We ran down the stairs and started watching the spectacle. We are seeing that the sweepers are cleaning every nook and corner. The police is talking to the wireless. The entire road was blocked. Then we were told that Netaji was coming.
For large areas, all this may not be special, but people used to get scared after seeing the police car playing siren in small villages and towns. Had seen the khaki uniform earlier but the colorful police force was seeing it for the first time. There were also some commands in it. Nobody could understand anything. Then asked an uncle of the locality, ‘Uncle, what has happened? Why has so much police force come here? He said hey son Netaji is coming. Then my question is who is this Netaji? Then he scolded as if by not asking the address what crime I have committed. Said- UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav ji is coming to meet Babu ji.
Breaking the CM route, Mulayam Singh reached to meet
If I explain you a little about Babuji, then you will understand the story. Babuji’s name was Jamuna Prasad Bose, who was also called Gandhi of Bundelkhand. We have never seen such an honest leader in our life. Went to jail in the freedom struggle, did agitations. At the time when caste-based elections were held, people of all classes used to vote for Babuji. In 2000, Bose joined the Samajwadi Party. He was given ticket in 2002 but he lost the election. It was 2003 or 2004, CM Mulayam Singh Yadav had to come to Banda. The preparations were completed. Netaji reached the venue but looking back, Jamuna Prasad Bose was not there. When he asked the party officials, he was told that his health was not good. Later it was also said that perhaps he had not been called, so he was angry that he did not reach. As soon as Mulayam Singh finished the meeting, he headed straight towards Babuji’s house.
Mulayam Singh came to persuade angry Babuji
He was not involved in the CM route. The hands and feet of all the officers were swollen. Suddenly information comes that Netaji is coming to meet Babuji. We all used to play only at Babuji’s house. At the same time, he used to talk about politics with him. He used to tell us more than one story of freedom. We were there, suddenly Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was wearing a white dhoti and sparkling kurta, came home earlier. His image was worth seeing. He also met all of us children. That is a memory when he gave us a rose flower and said that go ahead and progress. After this he sat next to Babuji for about an hour. It is said that he asked Babuji why did you not come to the meeting. So he told about ill health but Netaji said that it seems that you were angry with us, so did not come. Come on, it doesn’t matter if you don’t come, then we have left…
Political journey of ‘Gandhi of Bundelkhand’
The political journey of Jamuna Prasad Bose, called Gandhi of Bundelkhand, was also spectacular. 1974 Elected MLA for the first time from Praja Socialist Party. In 1977, the party merged with the Janata Party, then elected MLAs and made cabinet ministers. In 1985, he was again elected as an MLA from the Janata Party. After this the Janata Dal was formed in 1989. Now this time Bose ji got the ticket again and won again. In the year 2000, he had joined SP. He also contested the election but he lost by a few votes.
This was Netaji’s stature
The political stature of Mulayam Singh Yadav was very high. He considered the workers as part of his family. If they came to know that such a worker is angry, then he used to reach himself to persuade him. This tells you how people used to call him Netaji. He also had very good relations with the fiercest opponents of politics. Today he is not with us, so the caravan of memories went right at the same time when he met and gave roses.
