In case of brain stroke, the clot gets stuck in the vein of our brain and the flow of blood to the brain stops. Because of this, a part of the brain stops working.
Why the risk of brain stroke is increasing in youth
In this era of epidemic like coronavirus, we are falling prey to many more deadly diseases. Meanwhile, the risk of brain stroke in youth is also increasing significantly. After all, before knowing about why the risk of brain stroke is increasing in youth, it is very important to know that what is this brain stroke? NewsNCR had an exclusive conversation with Dr. Praveen Gupta, Director and Head, Department of Neurology, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, to bring you more and more important information about brain stroke.
These are the main symptoms of brain stroke
Dr. Praveen Gupta told during an exclusive conversation with NewsNCR that in case of brain stroke, the clot gets stuck in the artery (vein) of our brain and the flow of blood to the brain stops. Because of this, a part of the brain stops working. To recognize brain stroke, it is very important to know about the symptoms. The major symptoms of brain stroke include slurred speech or quivering, weakness in arms and legs, hanging on one side of the face, fainting, memory loss. There are two types of brain stroke. The first stroke occurs due to a blockage in the nerves of the brain, which is commonly called a clot. On the other hand, the second stroke occurs due to the leakage of blood due to the rupture of the vein of the brain, which is called hemorrhage.
After brain stroke, the brain starts deteriorating rapidly
Dr. Gupta said that it is very important to correctly identify these two cases related to brain stroke because both these cases are treated in different ways. He said that if you see any kind of symptoms related to brain stroke, do not take any medicine of your own free will. In such circumstances, one should immediately go to the hospital. Dr. Gupta told that brain stroke happens suddenly. It takes only 4 to 5 minutes to stop the flow of blood running in the veins of the brain. The brain stops working only after 5 minutes of stopping the flow of blood and after 10-15 minutes of this, the brain starts to deteriorate seriously.
These are the main reasons for increasing the risk of brain stroke in youth
Talking about the increasing risk of brain stroke among the youth, Dr. Praveen Gupta said that our lifestyle is not under our control. In today’s era, youth have become accustomed to many things like tobacco, alcohol and coffee. Apart from this, the youth of today are living under a lot of stress due to different reasons. There is no fixed time for sleeping, waking up, eating and drinking. Not exercising, obesity, blood pressure, diabetes, pollution are also among the major causes of stroke. All these things damage our lifestyle, body and nerves. In such situations, the level of cholesterol in our body increases and the anti-oxidants decrease. This is the reason why the risk of stroke is increasing among the youth.
