With the arrival of cold, cough and other infections, it is very important to look for options that serve the taste buds but also protect the body and make it strong.

Recently shared a list of top five dishes for winter which also includes Til Gul. People with sweet tooth must be aware of that dish which is known as winter dish because of the availability of its ingredients in season and suitability of ingredients for our health.

Til Gul is a colored sesame candy coated with sesame seeds. It is mostly eaten as a dessert in the northern regions of the country and especially in Maharashtra where it is exchanged on the festival of Sankranti.

Delicacy derives its name from the two main ingredients it is made from, either sesame or sesame seeds; and jaggery or jaggery. The two ingredients are considered warm and extremely helpful in providing the necessary insulation through the body during winters.

The oil present in sesame performs the main function of providing heat to the body and prevents the internal temperature of the body from decreasing. The unsaturated fat present in the preparation can help in lowering cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart diseases.

Sesame seeds are rich in protein, calcium, iron and magnesium which strengthen bones, enhance hair quality and keep the skin glowing and healthy.

In addition, jaggery cleanses the entire body, improves digestion and supplies the body with the required amount of iron and prevents anaemia.

Even though it is a good substitute for sugar, jaggery is a very sweet ingredient which should be consumed in limited quantity by diabetic people as it can spoil the sugar level and also lead to weight gain.

Consumption of jaggery in excess can also lead to constipation and upset stomach. Excessive consumption of sesame can also spoil the level of sugar and reduce them, so it is necessary to monitor the amount of consumption. Otherwise, Til Gul is the most favorite sweet dish for the coming season.
