Due to bad lifestyle, we suffer from many diseases. In the last few years, the number of patients of diabetes and pre-diabetes has increased continuously. Bad lifestyle is the main reason behind this. According to a new study, eating almonds can reduce the problem of prediabetes in adolescents and youth as it helps in improving glucose metabolism.
A research was done on people aged 16-25 in Mumbai. In which how eating almonds affects glucose, lipids, insulin and compounds that increase inflammation. This trial was done on 257 people whose glucose metabolism was impaired. First of all, the height, weight, waist and hip area of these people were measured in the study. After this their glucose tolerance test and lipid profile test were done. One group was given a good amount of almonds to eat while the other group was given almonds as a snack.
Research has found that eating almonds reduces bad cholesterol and increases the level of good cholesterol. Due to this the risk of heart disease is reduced. Having blood sugar in the body means diabetes can be reduced.
How to reduce the risk of diabetes
Almonds are rich in magnesium, which works to prevent the risk of type-2 diabetes. Patients with diabetes have a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases. You put it to soak overnight to consume it. You can consume it in the morning on an empty stomach or as a healthy snack.
In the study, a group of people were given 56 grams of almonds to eat for three consecutive months. The other group ate almonds as a snack. The study found that the calories of both the groups increased by 20 percent. According to health experts, you can eat 8 almonds in a day. Almonds contain lipids that help lower bed cholesterol and fight heart-related diseases.
