In a 2020 interview with Rajeev Masand, when he was asked about his relationship with Alia, Ranbir had said that if the pandemic had not happened, he would have already tied the knot with her. “It (marriage) would have happened earlier if the pandemic had not affected our lives,” he said.
Alia married Ranbir in her own mind
In an interview with NDTV, when Alia was asked about Ranbir’s previous statement, she said that she agrees with him and in her mind, she is already married to him. “That is right but, in my mind, I have married Ranbir, in reality, I have been married to Ranbir in my mind for a long time. Everything happens for a reason. Whenever we get married, it will go well and beautifully.” During a ‘Brahmastra’ event in December last year, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji opened up about the time when Ranbir and Alia started dating while working on the film. He said that he advised them to go out together.
Ayan said, “To be honest, when we started our film, I thought it was the best casting – Ranbir and Alia, powerhouses. it was a great. Then Ranbir and Alia became very good friends, then became very good friends in life. Then more than friends. Then again, I didn’t want the whole world to see him for these 4 years. I didn’t want anyone to see him till my film came out. So, not many things have happened in his life because every time they used to go out together, I used to sit back and say ‘You all are ruining my film’. Please don’t go anywhere. Now it feels good that we can share them.”
Alia will be seen in the film ‘Brahmastra’ with Ranbir
Apart from ‘Brahmastra’, Alia will also be seen in SS Rajamouli’s film ‘RRR’ which will release on January 7, 2022. The film also stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran. Alia also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ opposite Vijay Raj, Indira Tiwari and Seema Pahwa in lead roles. Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi will have cameo roles in the film.
Ranbir was last seen in ‘Sanju’, a biopic based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt. Apart from ‘Brahmastra’, he will next be seen in ‘Shamshera’, an action drama produced through Yash Raj Films and directed by Karan Malhotra. Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt will also be seen in the lead roles in his film.
