In an interview, he told, “I was making Mr. India for the children. I used to become an 11-year-old kid, an imaginary little Shekhar, sitting next to me. Whenever I used to shoot, I used to ask what do you think?” He told that during the shooting he used to talk to his imaginary child continuously.

Shekhar Kapur said that he used to talk to himself considering himself as an 11 year old child. He said that he used to enjoy a lot when he was making Mr. India. He wanted happiness and innocence to be visible in the film as well.
Shekhar Kapur said that he still receives phone calls and messages from people regarding the film Masoom and Mr. India. He said that these films left a deep impression on the people, even on the youth.
