Actor Arvind Trivedi, who played the role of Ravana in the popular serial ‘Ramayana’, breathed his last today. Arvind Trivedi had been ill for a long time and breathed his last at the age of 82. In such a situation, the maker of Ramayana, Prem Sagar has remembered the late actor by heart.
Now Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem Sagar shares some of his fondest memories with ‘Ravan’ Arvind Trivedi of Ramayana. Exclusively speaking to ETimes TV, Prem Sagar shared some unheard tales of the late actor.
Could not slap Hema Malini
Prem Sagar has said in the conversation that I had known him (Arvind) from the Gujarati stage. He was a brilliant actor when he was playing a negative role in Hema Malini starrer Hum Tere Aashiq Hain, when he had to slap Hema Malini in a scene. He took 20 takes to do this scene. Hemaji and I told her that she should forget that she is a huge star and she should perform the scene.
How did you get the role of Ranav?
Not only this, he (prem sagar) told how he had signed him for the role of Ravana. Prem Sagar has told that in the serial Vikram and Betaal, I signed him for the role of a tantrik. Prem Sagar told that no one could have played the role of Ravana better than him. He was a great Shiva devotee and he memorized the entire Shiva Stotra in Sanskrit. He was a good person as well as a good actor.
Kapil Sharma could not attend the show
When we approached him to appear on The Kapil Sharma Show, his wife told me that he was not well and unable to speak. Not only this, when I sent him an invitation for the release of my book, he was still not well but he had signed the book.
