Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari condoles the death of Dilip Kumar
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari described Dilip Kumar as the “megastar” of his generation and said the actor’s ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ is the only film he has seen. In a condolence message, Koshyari said, “Dilip Kumar was the first superstar of Indian cinema. He represented the golden age of Indian films. I was so impressed by his Mughal-e-Azam that I watched the film many times. Unfortunately, I didn’t watch any film after that and Mughal-e-Azam was the first and last film I saw.
“The Indian film industry is undoubtedly the most popular in the world. The credit of this success goes to movie stars like Dilip Kumar as it goes to great filmmakers, directors, lyricists, technicians, musicians, playback singers and others. Dilip Kumar was a legend. No one can take his place. For me he was a superhero. I pay homage to the memory of the departed soul and extend my deepest condolences to the many admirers of Mrs Saira Banu and Mr Dilip Kumar.”
NCP leader Sharad Pawar also expressed grief over the demise of the veteran actor. Pawar tweeted, “Sad to hear about the demise of veteran actor Dilip Kumar. We have lost a great hero. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family and fans.
The actor went to jail once
Everyone’s eyes have become moist due to the departure of Bollywood veteran actor Dilip Kumar. He breathed his last on Wednesday morning at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Dilip Kumar has inspired people of every decade with his acting. His unique style is settled in everyone’s heart. There are many such stories related to Dilip Kumar’s life, about which very few people know. Dilip Kumar was once forced to give a speech against the British, due to which he had to face jail.
The story of his going to jail was told by Dilip Kumar in his auto biography The Substance and Shadow. It is a matter of those days when Dilip Kumar had to leave his studies and work to help his father. Due to poor financial condition of the family, Dilip Kumar started working as a manager in Military Contractors Club.
