Adoor Gopalakrishnan Resigned: famous filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan On Tuesday, K.R. Narayanan has resigned from the post of chairman of the National Institute of Visual Science and Arts. His move comes days after the institute’s director Shankar Mohan resigned following allegations of caste discrimination by some students and staff.
Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Gopalakrishnan announced his resignation at a press conference held here and also supported Mohan. He said that “Mohan is a respected and distinguished professional who has worked in various government film institutes during the last four decades.”

He was such a professional person whom we had invited and after that he was forced to resign by making baseless, false and defamatory allegations. The filmmaker also questioned the findings of a preliminary inquiry committee set up by the Higher Education Department, following which Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, on his request, set up a commission to probe the matter.
Adoor Gopalakrishnan claimed that the committee never called him or Mohan for questioning and that the commission also did not conduct a proper investigation on the issue.
