Helen was born on 21 November 1938 in Burma. His father was Anglo Indian and mother was Burmese. He had a brother Roger and a sister Jennifer. His father died during the Second World War. After that his family moved to Assam in 1943. There was a war situation at that time when Helen’s family came to India. Helen herself had told this during an interview. He had left his studies to take care of his family.

When Helen was 19 years old, she got a chance to step into the film world. He started his work with the film ‘Howrah Bridge’. Married to Salim Khan after divorce from first husband
Helen first married in 1957 to a film director who was 17 years older than her. His name was Prem Narayan Arora, but Helen’s marriage broke up after 16 years. She divorced her husband because her husband had become a burden on her, he used to spend Helen’s earning money unnecessarily. Due to which Helen’s financial condition worsened. He did not even have the money to pay the rent of his apartment.
After the divorce, Helen spent her life alone but in 1962, Helen met Salim Khan on the set of the film ‘Kaabil Khan’. Helen was so beautiful that Salim Khan went on getting attracted to her. Both of them started meeting, Salim Khan was married at that time. His wife Sushila had objections to these relationships but Salim still married Helen. For a long time, Salim Khan’s family was angry with him. After a few years, Sushila accepted Helen and Salim Khan’s relationship. Even Salman Khan considers Helen like his mother.
