The Kolkata Film Festival is starting from 15 December in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Mamta Banerjee and others will be present at the inauguration ceremony.

West Bengal Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Arup Biswas told that the 28th edition to be held from December 15 to 22 kolkata movie Bollywood Actors at Festival Mahotsav (KIFF) Amitabh Bachchan Glimpses of life and work will be shown. Biswas told a press conference that in eight days movie lovers A total of 183 films, including 52 short and documentaries from 42 countries, will be screened at 10 venues. He also released a logo of the program.
Bachchan, popularly known as Big B, along with his wife Jaya will attend the inauguration of the ceremony at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. Governor CV Anand Bose, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan will also be present in the programme. Announcing this herself, CA Mamta Banerjee had confirmed the presence of these eminent personalities.
Film Abhiman will be screened at the beginning of the film festival
The minister told reporters that Bachchan’s 1973 film Abhiman, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, would be screened first at the ceremony. Films Deewar and Kala Patthar will also be screened as a showcase of Bachchan’s cine career. KIFF will launch a new section Game On this year which will showcase seven sports films including 83, MS Dhoni, The Untold Story and Koni (1984). A second exhibition on legendary director Jean-Luc Godard and a centenary tribute section on Hrishikesh Mukherjee are also planned for the festival.
Discussion will be held on OTT
Other directors to be honored at KIFF include Asit Sen and Tarun Majumdar. Noted director Sudhir Mishra, known for his style of realistic films, will deliver the prestigious Satyajit Ray Memorial Lecture, which has been an integral part of KIFF since its inception, this year’s theme being ‘Understanding Cinema in the Changing Times of OTT’. Films will be shown in many cinema halls of Kolkata
KIFF president Raj Chakraborty, well-known directors from the Bengali film industry, state cultural affairs minister Indranil Sen and superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee were present at Saturday’s press conference. The venues where the films will be screened include Cinema Shatabdi Bhawan, Rabindra Sadan, Nandan 1, 2 and 3, Shishir Manch, Rabindra Okakura Bhawan and Nazrul Teerth.
