The winter vacations in Haryana have been extended till January 21. In an official order, the Directorate of School Education said that in view of the severe cold, all government and private schools in the state will remain closed till January 21. Schools will be reopened on 23 January (Monday). However, for 10th and 12th class board exam In view of this, the classes will resume as per the pre-determined schedule. The entire North India including Delhi-NCR is facing cold wave these days.
Due to the cold wave, winter holidays were announced early in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, while in many states the holidays have also been extended. Schools are closed till January 15 in view of the cold and foggy weather. The schools are scheduled to reopen on January 16, 2023. However, there is little chance that winter vacations can be extended considering the falling temperature and the forecast made by the Meteorological Department for next week.

The winter weather is also expected to get worse. The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has predicted that there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region for the next two days. IMD has said that there is every possibility of cold wave and dense fog in some parts of North India including the capital Delhi.
IMD tweeted, ‘Scattered to heavy rain/snow very likely over Western Himalayan region during January 11 to 13, 2023. There is also a possibility of scattered rain in the surrounding plains. Due to severe cold wave in North India, schools have been closed in many places. Apart from this, winter vacations have also been extended in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.
Will the holidays increase in Delhi-NCR?
Due to the snowfall on the mountains, the temperature in the plains including Delhi-NCR is continuously falling. It is being said that after January 14, there is going to be a tremendous return of cold wave in Delhi. During this, the temperature can reach from 2 to 3 degrees. The maximum temperature is expected to remain up to 15 degrees. If this happens, then it is expected that the winter holidays in Delhi-NCR can be extended. A decision regarding the holidays can also be given today or tomorrow.
