A light tank Zoravar is being developed in his honor. The Indian Army will first deploy this tank in the same Ladakh area, where Zorawar Singh demonstrated his high valor and sacrificed his life for the country here.
Defense research pioneer DRDO and private sector company L&T are jointly developing the light tank. The tank is specially being prepared keeping in mind the mountainous and inaccessible areas. It will strengthen the Indian forces on the border of China in the same way as Zorawar Singh did with his bravery. This will expand the strength and defense capability of the Indian Army. This light tank will be ready for testing by the end of this year. This will prove to be a strong step towards self-reliant India.

Where will the Light Tank Zorawar be stationed?
After the test, this light tank is planned to be deployed in the strategically important Ladakh sector itself. This area is very sensitive and often the armies of both the countries come face to face here. Initially 59 units of Light Tank Zoravar are to be made.
If everything goes as expected, then its number can be increased manifold. This tank is being constructed with the view that it will be useful in mountainous and inaccessible areas, it will also be effective in Kutch of Gujarat and desert areas of Rajasthan. The need for light tank Zorawar was felt after the conflict on LAC in the year 2020.
Who was General Zorawar Singh?
Zorawar Singh was born on April 13, 1786 in Bilaspur, present-day Himachal Pradesh. His full name was Zorawar Singh Kahluria. He was born in Dogra Rajput family. He was called the Napoleon of India. He was a very brave warrior and army leader. At that time, due to his bravery, he had taken Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Sikh Empire from Tibet, Leh-Ladakh to the border of Nepal. On 12 December 1841, he was martyred while fighting the Tibetan army. Impressed by the bravery of Jorawar Singh, the Tibetan army built his tomb.
