The University Grants Commission (UGC) said that the academic session of colleges and universities will start from October 1. The UGC has asked the colleges to complete the final year/semester exams in online, offline or mixed mode by August 31.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the academic calendar for the 2021-22 session. As per the academic calendar, admissions to the first-year undergraduate and post-graduate programs for the 2021-22 session should be completed by September 30, so that the new session can be started from October 1. According to the new guideline, the final year examinations are to be held compulsorily before August 31, 2021. These exams can be conducted both offline as well as online. The University Grants Commission has said in its guidelines that the academic session of colleges and universities will start from October 1. UGC has asked the colleges to complete the final year/semester exams in online, offline or mixed mode by August 31.
The commission, however, says that if there is any delay in the declaration of class 12 board results, colleges and universities can start a new session from October 18. The teaching-learning process can be continued in offline, online or mixed mode as per the decision of the university concerned. Keeping in mind the financial difficulties caused by the COVID lockdown, the UGC has asked the universities to refund the full fee if a student withdraws admission as a “special case” by October 31.
The UGC guidelines on academic calendar states, “It is clarified that the entire fee including all charges on account of cancellation/migration by 31st October, 2021 should be refunded (ie there should be zero cancellation fee). The entire fee collected from a student should be fully refunded after deducting more than Rs.1000/- as processing fee.
Announcing the calendar, the commission further said that colleges and universities can plan classes, breaks, conduct of examinations, semester breaks etc between October 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022, following the necessary COVID protocols issued by the authorities. .
Admission in college only after board result
According to the order of the Supreme Court, it has been directed that colleges and universities can take admission of students only after the results of their board exams are out. These instructions are for ICSE, CBSE and all state boards.
