CBI has registered a case against 73 unqualified doctors practicing medicine in India. Along with this, the CBI has registered a case against the officials of the National Medical Council and 14 State Medical Councils. There is an allegation against these doctors that they were treating people as doctors without completing their medical studies abroad and without obtaining degrees. It is being told that the CBI is keeping an eye on this matter for the last four years.
The CBI has registered 102 cases against 135 private companies and individuals in the last four years between 2019 and 2022. According to the Finance Ministry, the maximum number of 88 cases among all the states have been registered in West Bengal alone.
Ministry of Health investigated
The Ministry of Health has identified 73 foreign medical graduates during its investigation. These students have not passed the examination as per the records of the National Board of Examinations, but are registered with various medical councils in the states. The Health Ministry said that such fraud and bogus registration by unqualified persons would be detrimental to the health and well-being of the people. Most of these candidates have studied in Russia, Ukraine and China between 2011 and 2022. Based on a complaint by the health ministry, the CBI framed charges of alleged corruption, criminal conspiracy, forgery and cheating against the officials.
