With this, medical colleges in hilly areas will be able to get adequate teachers. Along with this, specialist doctors will also be easily available to provide their services.
Rawat said that despite many efforts, professors, associate professors and assistant professors were not available in the medical colleges located in the hilly areas. One of the main reasons for this was the low pay scale and lack of adequate facilities.
Deficiency Compensatory Scheme
Deficiency compensation means compensation given in lieu of any deficiency. On this basis, the state government has started the Deficiency Compensatory Scheme. Uttarakhand Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that in view of this, the state government has decided to give 50 percent additional allowance to both regular and contractual teachers posted in hilly areas under the Medical Teachers Deficiency Compensatory Scheme.
The minister informed that at present this additional allowance will be applicable in Government Medical College (Srinagar) and Government Medical College (Almora). The said allowance will also be payable to faculty members, professors, associate professors and assistant professors posted in all government medical colleges to be established in hilly areas in future. That is, every teacher teaching in all government medical colleges of the state will get the benefit of 50 percent additional allowance.
He told that the 50 percent additional allowance received by the faculty members will not be mentioned on their salary slip.
