Monitoring devices like smart watches that keep an eye on our health not only keep an eye on our physical activities, but also give us a lot of other information. For example, when and what to eat, how much water to drink and what to avoid. Usually these things are advised keeping in mind the physical condition, geographical conditions and climate. since a long time Ayurvedic There has been talk of mixing the principles of science with modern science and technology, so that people’s lives can be made stress-free, healthy and happy.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur is working on this amidst the long-standing talk of merging technology and Ayurveda. The team at IIT Jodhpur is working to create a platform that will add Ayurvedic knowledge to the algorithms of the smartwatches and mobile apps you rely on to monitor your health. It will be known as AyuTech.

Professor Mithali Mukherjee, co-head of the Ayurtech Center of Excellence at IIT Jodhpur and a champion of ayurgenomics in India, said, “This platform or tech layer is the ‘prakriti’ of a person, that is, the state that describes the condition of a person. Ayurveda gives a very interesting definition of health. It gives information about a population in seven ways on the basis of defects. This includes vata, pitta and cough.
How will the platform work?
The tech platform with Ayurvedic layer is being developed by the IIT Jodhpur team in collaboration with Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Rajasthan Ayurved University and AIIMS, Jodhpur. This platform will detect the nature of any person and give them health related advice. It will also include information related to Ayurveda.
At present, doctors of Ayurveda identify the Prakriti of a person by accessing the doshas through three different traditional methods. This includes feeling the nervous system, the color of the person’s hair and asking some questions. The IIT team is trying to understand the nature of a person through modern technologies like sensors, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
