Ex-servicemen can get category-wise reservation in state government jobs and recruitment by the Rajasthan government. Rajasthan Govt is considering giving these benefits to the candidates. The Ashok Gehlot government has studied the rules of reservation for ex-servicemen in government jobs in most of the states and union territories. Govt Jobs Maharashtra, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka are included in the list of those giving these reservations.
According to the official statement, detailed information has been taken of such big states where more than 5 percent reservation is being given to ex-servicemen in recruitment. Recruitment notices of recruitment commissions and selection boards of various states have also been studied.
For example- Releases are issued only after determining category-wise reservation of ex-servicemen in Central Government Jobs, Delhi Police Recruitment, Maharashtra Public Service Commission, West Bengal Public Service Commission, Uttarakhand Recruitment Commission and Punjab Police Recruitment.
Why is this reservation necessary?
Under the banner of OBC Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, Congress MLA Harish Chowdhary from Baytu in Barmer has raised the issue of anomalies in OBC reservation and agitated several times to remove them. In this regard, a detailed discussion has been held by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Chief Secretary Usha Sharma with various military organizations, delegation of ex-servicemen and director of the Department of Military Welfare.
In the meeting with the Advocate General, he also considered it legally appropriate to make the reservation of ex-servicemen horizontal (Horizontal Reservation) compartment wise.
It is being said that if this is done, other reserved category ex-servicemen will also be able to get proportional representation in direct recruitment as a whole. Along with this, due representation will also be ensured for general candidates (other than ex-servicemen) belonging to backward classes from the posts reserved for backward classes.
Those who support this reservation say that in the current recruitment rules of ex-servicemen, after getting a job, they are adjusted in their respective category. With this system, due to adjustment of ex-servicemen in their own category, the selection of ex-servicemen belonging to SC, ST category is getting reduced. Along with this, due to the adjustment of the selected candidates in their category after the reservation prescribed for ex-servicemen, in some of the recruitments, such backward class candidates who are not ex-servicemen are also not getting proper representation.
