Taruni cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Service Exam (CSE) exam this year itself. Taruni grew up in Chittaranjan, West Bengal, but did her schooling in Jamtara. She initially wanted to become a doctor, not a civil servant. But perhaps something else was written in fate. He had also taken admission in MBBS, but first he missed his studies due to illness and then due to slipping from the hill, he suffered a lot of injuries. In this way, within two years, his MBBS studies were completely missed.

At the same time, after returning from the medical college, he had to start everything again. Taruni told, ‘I took some time to handle myself. My qualification at that time was only 12th pass. He told that he took support of IGNOU for further studies and then obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English Literature.
Taruni further told that it was only a matter of time before I was able to recover that once again a mountain of disaster broke down on me. My brother-in-law, the CRPF commandant, was martyred in 2016 in Srinagar. After this he had to go to different bureaucrats and politicians to talk to his sister about her job. During this, she was very impressed by seeing the officers and she decided to become a civil officer.

Taruni was about to give UPSC CSE exam in 2020 itself, but it could not happen due to COVID. After this he gave the exam in 2021. Due to the age limit, this was also his last chance. However, even during this her troubles did not end as she fell victim to COVID and had to be hospitalized for four months. In such a situation, now he had only six months time for the exam.
The thing to note here is that he never took coaching for UPSC exam preparation. Taruni told that she has focused on self-study from the beginning. He has never resorted to coaching. He prepared all his notes himself and took the help of YouTube videos for this. He had the pressure to pass the exam, so he also used different tricks for studies.

- Be honest: Taruni says that you should join civil service only when you really want to do something for the society. You should be honest about it.
- Don’t lose heart He said that I have faced many challenges in my life. During this there is one thing which has helped me and that is my determination. Even if you are not able to clear the exam once, do not lose heart.
- Keep on going: Taruni told that people always keep thinking about the past. Even if you have made mistakes, do not get stressed thinking about them. Just keep moving forward.
- No coaching needed He said that it is a myth that coaching is needed for UPSC preparation. We now live in the digital age, where we have many free resources available to us. Use them.
- English no barrier: Taruni said that I come from a small town. English is seen as a hindrance in such cities. But it is not so, you can give UPSC exam in 22 languages. You can also hire a translator.
