The Supreme Court has pulled up the central government for delaying the counseling of NEET MDS (Masters of Dental Surgery) 2021 for dental graduate students. The court said on Monday that the central government should fix the date of counseling within a week. Dental graduate students had moved the Supreme Court for counseling soon.
A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Hrishikesh Roy today said that the government is ruining the lives of doctors and it is harmful to the country. The court said that in December 2020, the examination results of MDS NEET were declared, so why is there delay in counseling, he is a qualified BDS doctor and is wasting his life.
The court also said that the government has to complete the admission for MDS NEET. The bench said that it is India’s loss that the government is not allowing PG students to complete their studies. The petitioner’s lawyer Vikas Singh told the court that the counseling of the students should be virtual only.
Dentists, having a Bachelor’s (BDS) degree in Dental Surgery, had appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET MDS) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) on December 16 last year for the Master Surgery Course (MDS) in Dental Surgery. was held for admission. The results of the examination have been declared on December 31, 2020 only.
The petition, filed through advocate Tanvi Dubey, said that these doctors are challenging the “unjust and infinite delay” done by the MCC in declaring the counseling schedule for NEET-MDS, 2021. “Around 30,000 BDS graduates appeared for NEET-MDS conducted for admission to more than 6,500 seats in the country and till date there is no update for admission to PG courses,” the petition said.
