The Supreme Court heard a petition on 4 October, which sought cancellation of NEET-UG 2021, which was held on 12 September. During the hearing today on the petition seeking cancellation of NEET UG 2021, a division bench of the Supreme Court hearing the matter said, “The court will not cancel the examination in which 7.5 lakh people have participated. . This exam was conducted at the national level and not at the local level.” “The alleged incidents of induction of fake candidates and leaking of papers cannot be done to the detriment of lakhs of students appearing for the examination,” the bench said.

Terming the petitioner as “courageous”, a bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai observed that “incidents of impersonation and paper leaks cannot be detrimental to lakhs of students who have appeared in the examination”. The court warned the petitioner that fine could be imposed for filing such a petition.

There has been a discussion on social media for several days regarding the cancellation of NEET 2021 exam. A petition was filed by various NEET UG exam aspirants demanding re-examination over alleged paper leaks. Dismissing the petition for cancellation of NEET 2021, the Supreme Court made it clear that the examination will not be canceled and the re-examination or any petition related to it will not be entertained.

In this petition, it was demanded that the alleged cases of paper leak in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Under-Graduate) i.e. NEET UG 2021 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 12 September 2021 and CBI’s fact finding on these. In view of the report, it should be canceled and instructions be given to the Ministry of Education, National Examination Agency and National Medical Commission for re-organization with better security resources like Biometric Testing, Network Jammer, etc.
