NEET 2021: Exam will be according to old pattern, new pattern will be applicable from next year

NEET 2021 will be conducted as per the old pattern this year and the new pattern will be applicable from next year. The Central Government and the National Board of Examinations told the Supreme Court that the Post Graduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET-SS) 2021 will be conducted as per the old pattern and the new pattern will be applicable from next year.

Earlier, the National Board of Examination had said that the examination for admission to super specialty courses in medical colleges across the country would be postponed. This exam will now be held in January instead of November. Also, NBE has urged the SC to allow the new pattern, postpone the exam till January to give time to the candidates. In the Supreme Court, some students had objected to the change in the pattern in the NEET-SS exam (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Super Specialty Courses) and demanded cancellation of the exam.

He said that the exam is to be held in November for admission and in the month of August the pattern of the exam was changed. This is causing a lot of trouble to the students as they have been preparing for this exam since one year. During the hearing, the Supreme Court had asked the central government to consider it. After which the Center told the Supreme Court that now the exam will be held in January instead of November, so that students will get a chance to prepare under the new pattern.

Answer was sought from NBE regarding the exam pattern

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the ‘sudden last-minute changes’ announced by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in the exam pattern of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Specialty (NEET-SS 2021) . It was alleged that the question pattern of NEET-Super Specialty course has been changed in favor of only those who have done post-graduation in general medicine at the cost of other subjects.

Supreme Court had reprimanded

Earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed a petition seeking cancellation of the NEET-UG exam held on 12 September 2021 due to alleged paper leaks and malpractices. The petition sought that in view of the alleged cases of paper leaks on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Under-Graduate) 2021 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 12 September 2021 and the fact-finding report of the CBI on these be cancelled.
