Why did so many students fail?
In the report of the Ministry of Education, it has been said that due to the different exam pattern adopted by the board, the failure percentage of the students has increased. The report also found that the different syllabus adopted by the board has created hurdles for national level entrance examinations.
Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Education, said that significant variation has been observed in the syllabus taught in different boards. Changes have been made especially in the syllabus related to Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The change in syllabus creates hurdles for national level examinations including the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
Which state has the maximum number of failed students?
Presently, there are three Central Boards in India. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Apart from these, different states have their own state boards. This year the highest pass percentage has been seen in the Kerala Board 10th exam. A total of 99.7 percent students have passed in Kerala Board 10th. At the same time, Meghalaya has the lowest pass percentage of 57 per cent students.
