Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has said that medical is the most demanding profession in India. But cases are being registered continuously regarding this. In such a situation, there is a need to improve medical education.
‘Many cases challenging the decisions of the National Medical Commission or cases related to NEET have reached my bench in the Supreme Court. Sometimes the court cannot enter into the field of policy. It is the duty of the states to listen to the demands made by the students. However, whenever injustice happens, it becomes our duty to intervene in it. The number of cases being filed in the Supreme Court regarding NEET and medical admission is an indication that there is a need for improvement in medical education in India.
These things are said by the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud. He was speaking on the topic ‘A prescription for Justice: Quest for fairness and equity in healthcare’ at the 19th Sir Ganga Ram Lecture. Know what Supreme Court CJI DY Chandrachud said on medical education during this period.

‘Hope of lakhs of students in NEET cases’
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said that the registration of a large number of cases regarding NEET matters is a sign of the hopes and aspirations of lakhs of students. This is proof that medical is the most demanding profession in India. Yet the ongoing litigation is a sign that medical education in India needs reform.
‘Legal and medical connected with the well-being of the people’
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that the principle of justice underlies the practice of both law and medicine. Both fields are concerned with fairness, equality and the well-being of communities and people. He cited the problems of the LGBTQ+ community as an example. The CJI said that this is something where law and medical fields come together.

He said that the initiative to decriminalize homosexuality was first taken in 1994 by a non-governmental organization called AIDS Bedhbhav Protod Andolan. This NGO said that due to making homosexuality a crime, the sexual health of men is deteriorating. In this case, it should be excluded from the category of crime.
