The interest of students in engineering studies is gradually decreasing in the country. This process of decline has been going on for the last several years, but recently this process has become more intense. In this copy, we will give a verbal description of the figures, how year-by-year engineering Did the students keep decreasing? We will tell you why this decline is coming? Will you also tell that towards which course the trend of the students has now increased?
First let’s understand from the data about ten years old. When about 17 lakh students had enrolled in engineering. The next year this number increased to 18 lakhs. Then more than 19 lakh students took admission. The year 2014-15 was the golden period of engineering in terms of admission. After that the decline in admission started, it continues till date. A total of 8.60 lakh students have registered for JEE Main for the first phase this year. While the seats in the country are still around 13.50 lakh.
today’s big news

However, the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra still have the maximum number of colleges, seats available in the country. North India does not stand anywhere in front of them.
What do the figures say?
The recent figures of JEE Main are also testifying that there has been some confusion in engineering. Whether there has been a decrease in the level of education or the youth is not able to get a job. See the figures below. It will be helpful to understand the condition.

Why disillusionment with engineering?
Dr. Anuj, Associate Professor, Center for Advanced Studies, says that there are many reasons for the lack of interest among students. A large number of engineering colleges were opened but good teachers were not recruited there. The result was that in seven-eight years their secrets started getting exposed. Because the truth of any college will be known only when the students will get jobs. Seven-eight years means that at least three-four batches came out. As this word spread among the students, the admissions decreased.
Dr. AK Aggarwal, director of a private college which was declared closed last year, takes Dr. Anuj forward. He believes that education is now a business. Everything was going well in my college but the management suddenly decided to shut it down. Last year, admissions were not taken in our place. After two years you can get some other big commercial building at the place of my college. The businessman who has such a huge piece of land in the heart of the city, sees it from a commercial point of view.
no admission problem
Dr. Bhavesh, who was the director of a prestigious college in NCR, says that apart from all these reasons, the students got to learn new things. In the last ten years, students are not getting in the core branches of engineering, so many new branches of computer science have come up. There is no problem of admission in them. They say – the student comes to study. Parents invest money, so everyone needs a secure future somewhere.
A report says that except for some other universities/colleges including IITs, NITs, IIITs, the placement situation is not good anywhere. With great difficulty 20-25 percent students are getting jobs. There are 15-20 percent who go for higher education and 20-25 percent are going towards some other course or job. Thus a large number of engineering graduates are unemployed.
Total seats of B.Tech in India
- IITs – 16,500 seats
- NITs – 24,000 seats
- IIITs-7,000 seats
- Others-13.50 lakh seats

In recent years, the trend of students towards law has increased. After the arrival of National Law Universities, students started going towards five year law course. After doing this course of five years, students are able to get an average of 15-18 lakhs annually. A section of students are also attracted towards animation, media, especially film/TV.
