These students, who reached UK through student visa, are getting their visa converted into skilled worker visa within a few months. By doing this, they are leaving the studies in the middle.
Educational consultants say that more and more students are getting their visas converted in the UK. The main reason behind this is the need for skilled workers in many fields. At present, 10 percent of the students have converted their student visa to skilled worker visa. These people have now started taking regular jobs. Britain had given student visas to 1.27 lakh students till September 2022, if compared to 10 per cent, more than 12 thousand students have stopped their studies and are working.
Is it legal to do so?
It is legal to convert your visa in UK. If a person is eligible for a job according to his requirement, then the company can convert his visa into a skilled worker visa. Such students get work permit to work in UK. This work permit is valid from two years to five years. The duration of the work permit can be further extended as per the requirement of the company. Britain wants skilled workers and if the students are meeting the conditions then there is no problem in converting the visa.
Why are students doing this?
Actually, at this time there is a shortage of people working in Britain. This is being seen in many sectors. Because of this, students going to study from India have many opportunities for work. These students are also eligible for these jobs. Most of these jobs are in sectors like healthcare, home care, where skilled workers are needed to work.
Is it beneficial for the students?
There is also a reason that for Indian students who want work permit in UK, it is easier for them to get it by adopting this route. There are many such students whose aim is to get a job in Britain. For this, they adopt the path of study visa. For such students converting visa becomes a good thing. However, such job-seeking students are associated with the healthcare sector.
