Both these species are currently not listed in the IUCN Red List, but are part of Schedule 4 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Horseshoe crab blood is helpful in testing all injectables and drugs. A molecule developed from horseshoe crab may help treat pre-eclampsia, a disease that affects pregnant women. Horseshoe Crab is 450 million years old.
