The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has opened Chanakya University in Bengaluru, Karnataka and work is underway on another university in Guwahati, Assam.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSSVidya Bharti is about to create five new universities across the country. Vidya Bharti’s National Organizing Secretary Yatindra Sharma confirmed this at a function held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. A leading newspaper quoted Sharma as saying that the aim of the new universities is to bring about a positive change in education. RSS has been working for a long time to provide school education to the students in the country. At the same time, now its purpose is to focus on higher education through its organization’s higher education institution.
RSS has already opened Chanakya University in Bengaluru, Karnataka and work is underway on another RSS University in Guwahati, Assam. A total of 200 students have enrolled for the first batch of the university in Bangalore. In this university, education is provided free of cost to about 50 students of Vidya Bharati schools. Yatindra Sharma emphasized that educational institutions run by the RSS are open to students of all classes, castes and creeds. He said his 29,000 schools have a good number of students from Muslim and Christian communities.
Campaign started regarding NEP
RSS affiliate Vidya Bharti recently announced a campaign to raise awareness about the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 launched by the Centre. The objective of this campaign is to highlight the aspects of ‘India-centred education’. It is also tasked with motivating ‘Dignity of Labour’ with the proposed skill education from Class VI onwards and encouraging ‘Mother Tongue’ in competitions based on NEP. The campaign started on 11 September.
Aim to help the government on NEP
Announcing this, Shriram Aravkar, the general secretary of the organization, said that with their large network of schools across the country, they aim to help the government in the implementation of the NEP. Describing the NEP as an India-centric policy, Aravkar said it should reach the remotest parts of the country. The campaign includes discussions on the scope, scale and impact of reforms under the NEP. In addition, MyNEP contests and other popular NEP-themed contests are also being organized.
