UGC Notice For Fake Medical College: A warning has been issued by the UGC regarding two medical colleges. UGC has warned that students should not take admission in these institutions.

Fake Medical Colleges: The craze for medical studies in the country is such that lakhs of students take part in the medical entrance exam NEET every year. Last year the number of students who appeared for the NEET UG exam was close to 18 lakhs, which shows that medical To what extent is the craze of studies. However, very few students get admission in government and private medical colleges. Because of this many times they get trapped in the trap of some fake medical colleges. Because of this many times their future is also ruined.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned about such fake universities. In fact, the UGC has told that the warning is on regarding ‘Open International University for Alternative Medicine’ and ‘National Board of Alternative Medicine, Kuttalam’. The commission has asked the students not to take admission in these self-styled institutions. Students’ future can be ruined if they take admission here.

What did UGC say?
The UGC said that both the university and the board do not have the right to award degrees to students. This is because they have not been established under the section of the UGC Act. The commission said that only a university established or incorporated by a Central Act, Provincial Act or State Act has the right to award degrees. Apart from this, under section 3, only an institution deemed to be a university or an institution specially empowered by an Act of Parliament to grant degrees can grant degrees.
The commission noted that the ‘Open International University for Alternative Medicine’ and the ‘National Board of Alternative Medicine’ are neither listed in the list of universities under section 2(f) or section 3. Nor have they been empowered to confer any degree as per Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.

The UGC further said that these institutions are not even allowed to use the word university with their names. This is because they have not been established under Central, Provincial or State Act.
