Question 1: Which state government abolished the quota of OBC Muslims?
answer: On Friday, the Karnataka government took two major decisions regarding reservation in jobs and education. Under the first decision, the government abolished the 4% quota for OBC Muslims. The second decision is that this 4% quota has been divided into Vokkaliga and Linagat communities. After this decision, the quota for Vokkaliga has been increased from 4% to 6%. The quota for Panchamasalis, Veerashaivas and other Lingayat categories has been increased from 5% to 7%.

Question 2: Which are the two indigenous equipment the Indian Air Force is going to get?
answer: The Ministry of Defense signed two separate contracts worth over Rs 3,700 crore with Bharat Electronics Limited to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force. The first contract, worth over Rs 2,800 crore, pertains to the supply of medium power radar MPR-Arudhara to the Indian Air Force. The second contract, worth around Rs 950 crore, is for 129 DR-118 radar warning receivers. Both of these have been completely indigenously designed and developed. Arudhara has been developed by DRDO. The DR-118 radar warning receiver will significantly enhance electronic warfare capabilities.
Question 3: Konkan-2023 exercise took place with which country’s Navy?
answer: An annual bilateral maritime exercise named Konkan-2023 was conducted between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy. The Royal Navy is the navy of the United Kingdom. Many things including INS Trishul participated in the exercise. These exercises included aerial, surface and sub-surface operations, such as gunnery shoots at an inflatable surface target named Killer Tomato, helicopter operations, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine warfare drills. The Konkan-2023 exercise was conducted in the Arabian Sea from 20 to 22 March 2023.

Question 4: Which state-owned bank has sold its stake in the Russian project to SBI?
answer: Canara Bank has sold its stake in Russia-based Joint Venture Commercial Indo Bank LLC to State Bank of India for a consideration of approximately Rs 121.29 crore. CIBL was established in the year 2003 in Russia. Its 60 percent share is already with SBI while Canara Bank has 40% share. Canara Bank had entered into an agreement to sell its stake to SBI. Canara Bank is an Indian public sector bank under the control and ownership of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It was established by Ammbal Subba Rao Pai in 1906 in Mangalore.

answer: A team of archaeologists has found the City of Pearls on the island of Siniyah in the Persian Gulf. The discovery was made on an island located in the Emirate of Umm Al-Quwain, which is located approximately 50 km northeast of Dubai. Pearl working was an important industry in the Persian Gulf region for centuries. Pearls extracted from the sea were highly prized and were used as currency, jewelery and other valuable items. The pearling industry was the main source of income for many of the coastal communities in the region. The newly discovered pearl city dates back to the 7th century AD. This makes it the oldest pearl city in the Persian Gulf region.

answer: On the occasion of World Forestry Day, Chhattisgarh government has started Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana. It aims to promote tree plantation across the state by providing financial assistance to farmers and landowners. Under the Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana, the Chhattisgarh government will provide full subsidy for tree plantation on up to 5 acres of land. For those who want to plant trees on more than 5 acres of land, the government will provide 50 percent financial subsidy. The scheme will also provide employment opportunities for people in rural areas. It will help in conserving soil and water resources, mitigating the effects of climate change and air pollution.

answer: The Income Tax Department has launched a mobile app named AIS for Taxpayer to help taxpayers get information about their Annual Information Statement (AIS) on mobile phones. The move is in line with the government’s Digital India campaign, which aims to provide access to various services to citizens through their smartphones. The app is currently available only for Android users. Taxpayers will register on the app on the basis of PAN number. Its objective is to provide all the necessary information to the taxpayers while filing their returns.

answer: The Indian Navy has taken an initiative called ‘Sam no Varunah’, a maritime awareness coastal motor. This campaign will cover the entire Indian coast of 7500 kms. The expedition will start from INS Netaji Subhash in Kolkata on 26 March and end at Lakhpat Gujarat on 19 April 2023. The rally will reach INS Chilka on 28 March 2023 to mark the historic passing out of the first batch of Agniveers of the Indian Navy. During the campaign, an awareness campaign will be conducted in various cities and villages along the route to give information about employment opportunities in the Navy including the Agneepath scheme. The members of the team will clean the beaches.
