Constitution Day is being celebrated across the country today. National Constitution Day Or National Law Day is celebrated in honor of the Indian Constitution and to promote its values. Celebrating Constitution Day in India started when the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment notified the Central Government in 2015 to celebrate it every year on 26 November. In fact, on November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India. After this, on 26 January 1950, the constitution came into force in the country.
The Constituent Assembly was formed in July 1946. It consisted of 389 members, of which 12 were women. On the occasion of Constitution Day, different programs are organized across the country. Constitution Day is celebrated every year to make people aware of the importance and history of the Constitution. In such a situation, let us know some facts related to the Indian Constitution.
- Longest Constitution: The Constitution of India is considered the longest constitution in the world. The Indian Constitution consists of a Preamble, 22 Parts with 448 Articles, 12 Schedules, 5 Appendices and 115 Amendments. This is also the longest constitution because it has a total of 1.46 lakh words.
- Time of preparation of constitution: It took two years, 11 months and 18 days to prepare the Indian Constitution.
- Handwritten: The constitution of our country was completely written by hands. It was written in italic style by calligrapher Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada.
- Article 32: Article 32 of the Indian Constitution is considered its heart and soul. Article 32 is ‘right to constitutional remedies’. It guarantees the fundamental rights of the individual. This article also makes all other rights effective.
- American inspired introduction: The Preamble of the Constitution of India is inspired from the Preamble of America. It is on the first page of the constitution. The concepts of sovereignty, rights of a state and its government and people were inspired by the US Constitution.
- two languages: Indian constitution was written in two languages. These languages are Hindi and English. Every member of the Constituent Assembly signed on the copies of these two.
- Inspired by other countries: The Constitution of India is also known as the bag of borrowings. This includes the laws of countries such as the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, and others.
