But now they have decided to ban ChatGPT.
Sanjay Chitnis, Dean, School of Computer Science and Engineering, RV University, has issued an advisory for students and faculty. It states that Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents such as ChatGPT, Github Copilot and Blackbox should not be used for coding or answering any questions in the first-year programming course. These rules of RV University have come into force from January 1. The university has also started blocking ChatGPT during lab and tutorial sessions.

The assignments given by the students in the university are also being checked. Many times they are being asked to write the same assignment again for checking. It has been said in the advisory that if any kind of discrepancy or difference is found in rewriting the assignment, then action will be taken against the student. However, these things have also been said in the advisory that in some cases the use of artificial intelligence can be approved. But during this time productivity can also be considered.
Committee on ChatGPT
International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) has constituted a committee, which is preparing a framework on the use of ChatGPT. IIIT-B director Devvrat Das said that ChatGPT is very common. This can be used for writing programming etc. He said, ‘Some of our assignments are deep technology ones, where ChatGPT will not be helpful. But we have to think about the problems in those non-technical subjects where it can be used. The committee will prepare a checklist regarding ChatGPT.
KN Balasubramaniam Murthy, Vice Chancellor, Dayanand Sagar University, said that wherever possible, the assignments would be made more technical and statics to overcome the challenge posed by ChatGPT. In a meeting with heads of departments two weeks ago, Abraham V, vice-chancellor of Christ University, said that ChatGPT assignments should no longer be considered for assessment.
