Assam’s 10th and 12th students are demanding cancellation or postponement of board examinations.
The Assam government has directed the closure of schools and universities in the districts where there are more than 300 active cases of corona. Education Minister Himant Biswa Sarma tweeted that if there are more than 300 active cases in the last 10 days in a district, then the District Magistrate has the right to close all educational institutions from pre-primary to university.

However, no decision has been taken regarding the 10th and 12th examinations in the state. The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) conducts HSLC or matriculation examination in the state and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) conducts HS or 12th examination. The students of both these boards are demanding to cancel or postpone the examinations.
Students are raising their voice to cancel or postpone the exams by tweeting with the hashtag #CancelAhsecSebaExams. Thousands have been tweeted with this hashtag.
In support of the students, NSUI tweeted and wrote, “Students are under a lot of pressure due to the already ongoing epidemic. NSUI has requested the Assam government to postpone the examination. “

Replying to Himanta Biswa Sarma’s tweet, one student writes, “Fearing the second wave of COVID-19, HSLC and HS 1st and 2nd year and other upcoming exams students have requested the Education Minister that they Take appropriate decisions on examinations soon. “
