Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have announced to conduct MBBS in Hindi. In this episode, now MBBS will be taught in Marathi in Maharashtra.

With the introduction of medical education in Hindi in two states of the country, now MBBS will be conducted in Marathi also. Maharashtra government has announced this. The government says that this will increase the access of programs up to degree level for non-English speaking students. The state government said that from next year it would Medical Education will start. State Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan said the decision to make the syllabus available in Marathi would help students from rural parts of Maharashtra.
This decision has been taken by the Government of Maharashtra at a time when it has already been announced by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh that now MBBS will be taught in Hindi in them. Both the states have announced that they will prepare MBBS syllabus in Hindi. Maharashtra Minister Mahajan has said that Maharashtra has gone one step ahead. He assured that not only MBBS, but other streams of medical practice including Ayurvedic, Homeopathy, Dentistry and Nursing will also be taught in Marathi.
Students studying in Marathi will get help
According to the Hindustan Times report, Mahajan said that the government has constituted committees to study the plan and the steps to be taken. Marathi Syllabus will help those students who have studied in Marathi medium, but they face difficulty in English.
Sources have said that the state cabinet had discussed the decision only last month. It has already been decided to form a board to change all the syllabus. The board will consist of experts from various fields.
Medical fraternity divided into two factions on the decision
Within the state, the people of the medical fraternity are divided into two parts regarding this decision of the government. Supporters of the government believe that this is a decision that will help doctors understand patients better. Doctors will be able to understand the symptoms reported by the patients in the local language.
However, others believe that medical studies in Marathi will limit doctors to Maharashtra or India only. He also believes that scientific subjects like medicine need to be kept according to global research and standards. The reason behind this is that English is a medium for medical studies. There are also concerns about providing training to teachers to enable them to teach in Marathi.
