In the last two years, question marks have been raised regarding the health sector in the country. Everyone had seen the pressure on the health infrastructure of the country during the COVID epidemic. This is the reason that now the central government has decided to increase the health infrastructure. The Union Health Ministry is presently present across the country. Medical Colleges is going to increase the number of . Under the plan of the ministry, medical colleges will be set up in different parts of the country in the next four years. According to the information received, during this time 112 districts will be selected, where medical colleges are going to be built.
The point to be noted here is that the creation of a medical college means that the number of medical seats will also increase. In this way, after giving NEET exam, candidates who take admission in medical courses are going to get a big relief. These colleges will be set up in those districts where the population is more than 10 lakhs. So population is going to be a big factor. Apart from this, before setting up medical colleges, care will also be taken that no government or private medical college exists in these districts yet.
How many seats in medical colleges now
The Health Ministry has told that after the formation of these medical colleges, the number of seats in MBBS medical colleges in the country will increase to 11 thousand. If we talk about the current situation, then there are 332 government medical colleges in the country, where there are 48,012 seats for undergraduate courses.
Apart from this, there are currently 290 private colleges operating in the country, where the number of seats is 43,915. On the other hand, if we talk about the number of postgraduate seats, then there are a total of 60,202 PG seats in both government and private colleges.
According to the information received, the central government is going to spend a total of 36 thousand crore rupees to build 112 medical colleges. The Finance Ministry is soon going to give a green signal for this scheme. The Health Ministry has identified all the districts where medical colleges are to be set up.
