In the current financial year, between April and December, there was a jump of 46 percent in passenger vehicle exports. A total of 424037 units of passenger vehicles were exported in April-December 2021-22.
Maruti Suzuki India exported 1,67,964 passenger vehicles.
India’s passenger vehicle exports grew by 46 per cent in the first nine months of the current financial year 2021-22. During this period, Maruti Suzuki India has been in the forefront with exports of 1.68 lakh units. According to data from the Society of Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), total passenger vehicle exports stood at 4,24,037 units in April-December 2021-22, as against 2,91,170 units in the same period a year ago. The data shows that exports of passenger cars grew by 45 per cent to 2,75,728 units during the period under review. On the other hand, exports of utility vehicles increased by 47 per cent to 1,46,688 units. During this period, the export of vans almost doubled to 1,621 units as compared to 877 units in the same period last fiscal.
The country’s leading car maker Maruti Suzuki India exported 1,67,964 passenger vehicles during the period under review. This is almost three times the figure of 59,821 units in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Along with this, the company exported 1,958 units of Super Carry (LCV) in the first nine months of the financial year. After Maruti, Hyundai Motor India and Kia India ranked in terms of exports.
Baleno, Desire Top Export Brand
Maruti’s major passenger vehicle export markets include Latin America, ASEAN, Africa, West Asia and neighboring countries. Its top five export models were Baleno, Dzire, Swift, S-Presso and Brezza. Rahul Bharti, Executive Director (Corporate Affairs), Maruti Suzuki said that about two years back the company decided to make a concerted effort towards huge growth in exports. “Behind our ambition is the strategy of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to increase localization and increase exports under Make in India.”
Maruti exports 205450 units in 2021
Bharti said that due to this, we were able to export 1,69,922 vehicles (PV and LCV) during April-December 2021-22, which is the highest figure in a period of nine months. He said that in the calendar year 2021, Maruti Suzuki exported 2,05,450 vehicles, which is the highest in any single calendar year.
Hyundai Motor Exports 100059 Units
Hyundai Motor India’s exports stood at 1,00,059 units in the first nine months of the current financial year. This is 35 per cent more than the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Similarly, Kia India exported 34,341 units to the global markets during the period under review as against 28,538 units in the previous fiscal.
Exports in December Quarter 139363 Units
Volkswagen’s exports stood at 29,796 units in April-December, 2021. Overall exports of passenger vehicles increased to 1,39,363 units in the third October-December quarter of the current fiscal from 1,36,016 units in the same period of the previous fiscal. However, exports of passenger vehicles declined to 54,846 units in December, 2021. In December, 2020, this figure was 57,050 units.
