Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Anupriya Patel, in her address at the 20th meeting of the SCO Ministers for Foreign Economy and Foreign Trade, hosted by the Republic of Kazakhstan late last night, called upon the SCO member countries to establish a balance between trade and commerce and for equitable development. Invited to participate in second startup forum
The Union Minister of State proposed to set up a new Special Working Group on Startup and Innovation and a new Expert Working Group on Cooperation in Traditional Medicine. He also said that cooperation in the field of startup and innovation can be a focal point to revive our economies from the ravages of the global pandemic. Keeping this in mind, he invited all SCO member countries to participate in the second Startup Forum to be organized by India from 27 to 28 October 2021.
Climate agenda should not include things that hinder business
The Union Minister highlighted the huge gap in digital technologies between developed countries and developing countries. He said that this needs to be reduced by building digital capabilities. On environmental issues, he welcomed the need for environmental protection and the need to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. He also stressed that the climate agenda should not include things that become unnecessary obstacles to trade.
SCO members unite with each other
At the end of her address, Anupriya Patel emphasized that SCO members should work in solidarity with each other and work in tandem and advance an agenda that is equitable, inclusive and development oriented. The virtual meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the SCO and heads of delegations from China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
