Nirmala Sitharaman has presented her interim budget in the country's Parliament. He told in his budget speech that the poor of the country have directly benefited from the government schemes. He has also mentioned PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and PM Kisan Samman Yojana. She says that at present the government schemes are reaching the common people directly. Nirmala Sitharaman said in the budget speech that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Annadata's products has been appropriately increased from time to time. The Finance Minister said that under the PM-Kisan Samman Yojana, direct financial assistance is provided every year to 11.8 crore farmers, including marginal and small farmers, while under the PM Crop Insurance Scheme, crop insurance has been provided to 4 crore farmers. He said that apart from many other programmes, through these measures Annadata is being helped in producing food for the country and the whole world. Smt. Sitharaman said that food related concerns have been eliminated through free ration for 80 crore people.
What is PM Jan Dhan Yojana?
The objective of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is to provide financial services to the weaker section and low income people. These services include savings bank account, loan, insurance, and pension. Under this scheme, account holders get overdraft facility up to Rs 10,000. Draft facility of Rs 2,000 is also available as soon as the account is opened. There is no need to maintain minimum balance in this account. To avail the overdraft facility, the Jan Dhan account must be at least 6 months old. If the account is less than 6 months old, overdraft facility is available only up to Rs 2,000. The maximum age limit for overdraft facility is 65 years.
