Recalling the success of the past years, the PMO said, it has had a tremendous impact on startups in the country and has led to the astonishing growth of unicorns in the country. The total number of unicorns in India has more than doubled
In a report released by Orios Venture Partners, it has been said that in the year 2021, 46 startups in India with a valuation of more than one billion dollars were successful in achieving unicorn status. With this, the total number of unicorns in India more than doubled to 90. Startups that have become unicorns in the past year include ShareChat, Cred, Meesho, Nazara, Moglix, MPL, Grofers (now Blinkit), Upgrade, Mamaearth, GlobalBiz, Acko and Spinny.
India becomes third largest unicorn country after US and China
According to the report, India has become the third largest unicorn presence country after the US and China with the number of unicorns 90. There are 487 unicorns in America and 301 in China and India has now overtaken Britain (39). India has become the third largest startup ecosystem country with the number of startups being around 60,000.
