Relief from expensive edible oil till Diwali, the government has taken all these steps for relief

States have been asked to take steps to check black marketing.

The government is continuously taking decisions to control the price of edible oil. Regarding this, the Food Secretary said that the Center and the states together are controlling the price of the commodity faster than other countries. The government is working at various levels to keep the prices of everyday food items under control. Necessary instructions have been given to all the concerned departments including states, FCI.

Continuous steps are being taken to control and monitor prices by holding inter-ministerial committee meetings every week. On the occasion of Diwali festival, states have been asked to take steps to check black marketing. The production of mustard oil has increased by one million metric tons, but due to the increase in the prices of other oils in the international market, its price also increased. A letter is being sent today by the ministry to the state governments to take strict action against the increase in prices due to profiteering, so that the prices do not increase during festivals.

Regarding the price of onion, Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said that the rate of onion is under control. There has not been that kind of jump in its price. Presently the situation is normal. There is no possibility of any restriction on the export of onion. The Center is providing onions to the states at the rate of Rs 26 per kg.
