National Pension System (National Pension System) is an investment scheme for pension introduced by the Government of India to provide old age security to Indian citizens. This scheme is regulated by the Pension Fund Regulator and Development Authority (PFRDA). The government has introduced Aadhaar (Aadhaar) for availing many services.Aadhaar) to NPS account (NPS Account) has been made mandatory. Aadhar card was made a mandatory proof of identity for businessmen and self-employed persons who are eligible for benefits under the scheme in August, 2021 to avail benefits under the National Pension Scheme.
Individuals who have opened their NPS account using PAN instead of Aadhaar can update the Aadhaar in their NPS account by following a few steps. Let us know what is the process to update Aadhaar in NPS account?
Step 1: First of all log in to your NPS account through https://cra-nsdl.com/CRA/ link.
Step 2: Click on ‘Update Aadhaar/Address Details’.
Step 3: Click on ‘Update Details’ under the menu that opens next
Step 4: Select the option ‘Add/Update Aadhaar Number’.
Step 5: Enter your Aadhaar number and click on ‘Generate OTP’.
Step 6: Enter the OTP received from UIDAI on your registered mobile number.
Step 7: After authentication through OTP, Aadhaar will be linked with your PRAN.
Explain that the name registered against your PRAN should match. You will see a message that the Aadhaar seeding request for your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) has been successfully processed. PRAN stands for Permanent Retirement Account Number, which is a portable number assigned to each NPS subscriber and remains with him for life. After registration, a PRAN will be assigned to the customer.
New customers can link NPS account with Aadhaar online-
Step 1: Visit the NSDL e-NPS portal https://enps.nsdl.com/eNPS/NationalPensionSystem.html.
Step 2: Click on ‘Registration’ option.
Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number in the space provided and click on ‘Generate OTP’ button.
Step 4: After selecting the disclaimer, click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
Step 5: Enter the OTP and click on ‘Continue’.
Step 6: Complete the NPS registration form and make the payment to receive your acknowledgment number.
Step 7: Submit your registration details and get your PRAN.
Increase in service charge of NPS
PFRDA has increased the service fee for NPS. The increased NPS fee has come into effect from February 1. Service charge for processing of exit and withdrawal in NPS has been introduced. Processing of exit or withdrawal will attract processing fee based on the amount deposited in NPS, which has been kept maximum up to 0.125 percent. For this charge, a minimum of Rs 125 and a maximum of Rs 500 will have to be paid.
