There has been hue and cry since morning regarding the news of surcharge on UPI payments. Tension is being seen among the people whether now the burden on their pockets is going to increase even for making digital payments. To remove all the confusion related to this, now the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), which operates the UPI system, has issued a clarification.
NPCI has issued a statement on Twitter clarifying that ‘UPI payment will remain free, fast, secure and easy’ as before. The new surcharge will not have any impact on customers and merchants who transact through UPI using bank accounts.
