North-Central Railway to be fully electrified by June next year
North Central Railway has set a target of fully electrification of its railways by June 2022. Giving this information on Saturday, Pramod Kumar, General Manager, North-Central Railway said that a total of 238 track kilometers were electrified in April-September 2021. Talking to reporters at the headquarters of North-Central Railway in Subedarganj here, he told that so far a total of 6,150 km of North-Central Railway track has been electrified.
Rs 453.24 crore came from freight to North Central Railway
Regarding the freight loading performance of North-Central Railway in the second quarter of the current financial year, Pramod Kumar said that the freight loading during this period stood at 45 lakh tonnes, as compared to 39.6 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of last financial year. He said that in the last quarter, freight income increased by 9.6 percent to Rs 453.24 crore, as compared to Rs 413.6 crore in the second quarter of the last financial year.
96 percent trains in the division resumed operations
Regarding passenger trains, he said that with the reduction of the outbreak of corona virus in the country, the operation of about 96 percent mail express trains in North-Central Railway has been resumed once again. Apart from this, more than 7,000 goods trains have been run on the New Bhaupur-New Khurja section in the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
North Central Railway produced 67 lakh units of solar power
The General Manager of North-Central Railway informed that so far 11.03 MW capacity solar power plants have been installed at different places under the division. Due to which 67 lakh units of solar power has been produced in the year 2021-22 till September, which is 12 percent more than the 60 lakh units produced in the corresponding period of last financial year.
Target set to generate 1.3 crore units of solar power
Pramod Kumar said that the North-Central Railway has set a target of generating 1 crore 30 lakh units of solar power for the year 2021-22. Due to which there will be a direct saving of about five crore rupees to the division. Not only this, it will reduce carbon emissions by more than 11,000 tonnes.
