Indian Railways has decided to cancel passenger trains in view of cyclonic storm Jawad. 38 running on December 5 and one train on December 6 have also been canceled as a precaution.
Check train before travel
Cyclone Jawad is likely to hit the Puri coast today and weaken. In view of this, Indian Railways has canceled more than 35 passenger trains opening today. These mostly include those trains which were to leave from Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Howrah (West Bengal) and Puri (Odisha). Waltair Division of East Coast Railway is prepared to face the challenges arising out of Cyclone Jawad.
Let us inform that there is a possibility of heavy rain in some parts of Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Cuttack districts of Odisha for the next few hours. The department said that the Jawad storm had weakened into a deep depression on Saturday.
According to the Meteorological Department, on Sunday, winds with a speed of 90-100 kmph can occur along the Puri coast of Odisha. Due to heavy rains, normal life may be affected at some places in the coastal districts. In view of this, the local administration in the respective districts is planning to evacuate people from places prone to waterlogging. South Central Railway has canceled more than 60 trains for Saturday and Sunday in view of the cyclonic storm.
