In the month of September, more than 16500 new companies were registered, the number of active companies crossed 14.14 lakhs

Monthly registrations have increased since touching the lowest level of 3,209 in April 2020.

According to official data, 16,570 new companies were registered in the country in September, taking the total number of active companies to over 14.14 lakh. Data from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs showed that till September 30, a total of 22,32,699 companies were registered in the country.

As per the Companies Act, 2013, out of these 7,73,070 companies were closed, 2,298 became dormant, 6,944 were under liquidity and 36,110 were in the process of winding up. According to the ministry’s monthly information bulletin on the corporate sector, there were 14,14,277 active companies in the country as of September 30. Citing an analysis of registrations of new companies between September 2019 and September 2021, the ministry said that the data shows that the monthly registrations of companies have increased since touching the lowest level of 3,209 in April 2020.

16570 companies were registered

According to the report, a total of 16570 companies were registered in the month of September, while 16641 companies were registered in September 2020. There has been a jump of about 25 percent in registration in September as compared to August. There are 4535 LLPs i.e. Limited Liability Partnership Firms in the total registration. A total of 4016 LLPs were registered in September 2020.

Decision taken after issuance of notice

The ministry said that out of 14 lakh 14 thousand 277 active companies, 14 lakh 5 thousand 98 companies are limited by shares. 8872 are Limited Buy Guarantee and 307 companies are Unlimited Companies. Out of 7 lakh 73 thousand 70 closed companies, 7 lakh 13 thousand 52 companies have been declared defunct. This decision has been taken after issuing notice under the Companies Act.
